How Long Does it Take to Replace a Roof?

We often get the question, “How long will it take to replace my roof?”. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, but we typically estimate that most residential new roof installations take 1-3 days with optimal conditions and an average size home. Once we start the process, we can give you a more accurate estimate based on several factors:

1. Weather

Poor weather conditions such as rain, snow and freezing tempatures can affect how long it will it will take to replace your roof. If the forecast looks bad, we’ll simply work with you to reschedule so it can be properly and safely installed.

2. Roof Complexity

If your roof has a steep pitch or multiple facets, angles, hips and valleys, it will increase the amount of time needed to replace it. For their own safety, contractors need to move more carefully and take extra precautions which can take longer.

3. Roof Accessibility

How easy is it for a contractor to access your roof? Homes with extensive landscaping, no paved surface near the access point or dense urban areas with little space for equipment can make roof installation more difficult.

4. Time of Year

More daylight means more time to install your roof! The extra hours of sunlight beginning in March combined with nicer weather allow installers more time to spend on your roof.
