Did you know the number one factor for maximizing ROI from home improvements is curb appeal?

First impressions carry a lot of weight when real estate agents price homes for sale, and they create interest and excitement with buyers. An upgraded, well-maintained exterior shows the home is cared for. It also increases energy efficiency and protection against the elements.

This translates to higher sale prices and fewer days on the market!

Not surprisingly, exterior upgrades typically outperform interior upgrades in terms of ROI. Interior upgrades are more about personal taste and don’t appeal to as many buyers. For example, replacing your entry door with an insulated steel door delivers twice the ROI (216%) on average than a minor kitchen remodel (113%), according to the Zonda Cost vs. Value Report for 2025.

In other words, installing a new steel entry door for $3,000 will likely bring in almost $6,500!

Other high-ROI exterior upgrades include:

Manufactured stone veneer on the front of a home: 208%

Fire-resistant fiber-cement siding: 114%

Low-maintenance vinyl siding: 97%

If you’d like to discuss ideas for exterior upgrades that deliver high ROI, contact Seashore Construction to schedule a consultation!

Coastal homes in New Jersey take a beating. The salty air. The ocean spray. The sand. The heavy winds. All year round. The exterior of these homes – roofing, siding, windows, and decking – need to be able to stand up to whatever Mother Nature can dish out. Here are a few things to consider when choosing materials.

CertainTeed Siding

Maintenance-free CertainTeed vinyl siding is designed to stand up to the elements with styles that fit your coastal vibe, like shiplap, beaded, shakes, and shingle profiles.

Composite vs. Wood

Composite decking pays for itself over time because you avoid the maintenance costs of wood. Composite is also resistant to moisture, rot, and salt damage.

Impact-Resistant Shingles

Impact-resistant shingles are engineered to flex and absorb energy so they can withstand wind, hail, and debris. And they don’t crack on impact or lose granules like traditional roof shingles.

Corrosion-Resistant Window Frames

Fiberglass and more budget-friendly vinyl window frames installed with stainless steel or specialized coastal hardware can stand up to salt spray and won’t rust or rot.

Ready to upgrade your shore home’s exterior with materials that protect your investment? Contact Seashore Construction to request a quote!

1983 was a big year. Ronald Reagan was President. “Every Breath You Take” by The Police topped the charts. The internet was born. Cabbage Patch Kids became an obsession. The 76ers won their last NBA title (sigh).

And Seashore Construction started serving families across South Jersey. Here are a few lessons that have stuck with us through the decades.

Local Matters

We’re locals in every sense of the word, and proud of it. We know the climate. We know the building codes. We know local suppliers. Being part of the communities we serve is everything.

Shore Homes Demand More

Salt air, sea spray and coastal winds all take a toll on a home’s exterior. From selecting the right materials to installing them the right way, the shore demands a higher standard.

Installation Matters as Much as Materials

Why would anyone invest in the best materials, only to settle for a mediocre installation? We’ve always valued the craftsmanship and attention to detail of our installation teams.

Transparency Builds Trust

What was accomplished on the job today? Did you run into any roadblocks? Are you still on schedule? We answer these questions every day to earn the trust of homeowners.

Forty-plus years of serving our neighbors and we’re still going strong. Let us show you why. Contact us today to request a quote!

Some signs of winter storm damage are obvious, like roof shingles in the yard or siding panels hanging off the house. But damage from snow, ice, wind, and freeze-thaw cycles can be subtle and might not show up until days or weeks after a storm.

Here are a few tips for spotting winter storm damage that warrant a closer look so it doesn’t turn into an expensive headache.

ROOF

In addition to missing shingles, check for shingles that are cracked, raised, curled, or buckled. Any damage can increase the risk of a leak.

The weight of heavy snow can cause parts of a roof to sag, especially a flatter roof.

Loose or bent flashing around chimneys, vents, or skylights can be a problem.

Granules in your gutters are sign of shingle wear.

Inside your house, look for moisture in attics and ceilings.

SIDING

Look for warped, loose, or cracked siding panels.

Listen for rattling, which is a sign that fasteners have been loosened.

Moisture can enter gaps in siding and will expand when it freezes, possibly causing materials to crack or pull apart. You may not see this until everything thaws.

WINDOWS AND DOORS

Check for cracked glass or frames, which can be caused by temperature swings.

If doors or windows stick, this could be a sign that moisture caused shifting or swelling.

New drafts around windows and doors and condensation between glass panes are signs of a failed seal.

DECKS

Moisture can enter the slightest gap in wood or composite deck boards, causing them to crack or split when they freeze.

Expansion and contraction can cause screws and nails to pop and boards to warp or cup.

Get on the Schedule Today!

Peace of mind is a wonderful thing. If you’ve spotted signs of damage, let our trained professionals have a look. Schedule now before spring to secure your spot on the calendar.

Feel a chill? That small draft you feel isn’t just an inconvenience — it’s literally money out the window.

When your windows let in outside air, your HVAC system has to work overtime to keep your home comfortable. This results in higher energy bills, added wear on your system, and a less than cozy living space.

 Drafty Windows Can Cause

Rising heating and cooling costs

Cold spots and inconsistent indoor temperatures

Moisture buildup, mold, or damaged window frames

Reduced curb appeal and home value

The fix is simple: upgrade to modern, energy-efficient replacement windows that keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Seashore is proud to be one of only two Andersen Windows Certified Premier Contractors in South Jersey. We recommend and install Andersen windows for their unmatched durability, comfort, and long-lasting performance. View our project gallery.

Life at the Jersey Shore comes with salt air, ocean breezes, and unfortunately, coastal storms. High winds and heavy rains can take a toll on your home’s exterior, but a little preparation goes a long way toward avoiding costly damage. Here are a few tips to storm-proof your home:

Roof

Check for missing or loose shingles—these are the first to fly off in high winds.

Make sure flashing and gutters are secure and clean to handle heavy rain.

Consider upgrading to impact-resistant shingles for added protection.

Windows

Inspect seals and caulking to keep water out.

Replace old or cracked panes before they become a hazard.

Storm shutters or impact-rated glass add an extra layer of safety.

Siding

Look for warping, cracks, or loose panels.

Fiber cement siding (like James Hardie®) stands up to moisture and wind better than traditional materials.

Reinforce areas near corners and edges where wind damage is most common.

Don’t wait until the forecast turns stormy! Schedule your free estimate with Seashore Construction now to make sure your home is ready for whatever the weather brings.
